Welcome to The Deepings School Library
The Deeping School Library

Our Aims

Our aim is to give a service and educational support to both students and staff of The Deepings School, whilst maintaining a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere in the Library.
We try to encourage the use of the resources and develop, in our users, a love of books and reading for pleasure.

Opening Times

We are open from 8.50am right through the school day, with Homework Club running from 3.10pm to 4pm each day. Mrs Lydford is the School Librarian, Mrs Davies is the library assistant, and Mrs Turner runs the Homework Club.

Resources

We hold a large stock of children's fiction ranging from "Quick Reads" to literature of teenage/adult level, and all the popular authors are in stock. We have a Young Adult Section aimed at Years 10, 11 and 6th form. There is also a dedicated 6th form library, separated into two rooms and stocked with 6th form non-fiction texts, further reading and adult fiction.

Our award winning Careers Library is also housed in these rooms.

We stock videos, dvds, story cassettes, magazines and school equipment such as clipboards and calculators.

Our comprehensive Learning Support section is housed in the Library and covers fiction and non-fiction from reading age 6 years.

We now have 15 laptops available for student use and for 6th form quiet study.

Library Management System

A computerised Library Management System is in use, called Eclipse. This consists of thumb print identification and brings us up to date as a Business & Enterprise College.
