SUBJECT VISION

The Music department strives to offer a curriculum which is embedded in learning within an educational, creative and fun environment. Students are encouraged to develop their talents, learn to express their creativity, knowledge and skills through a variety of activities.

The department offers a diverse curriculum which prepares pupils for GCSE and A-level Music. Within the department a variety of Instrumental lessons are offered and taught by Lincolnshire Music service. Music clubs and Bands are available for all pupils to join throughout the school day. Music plays an integral life within the events of the school and works closely alongside the Drama department for the school Musical.

EXAMINATION COURSES OFFERED

GCSE MUSIC BOARD: AQA 

Performing 40% External Assessment – required to perform two different pieces: one Individual performance and one Group performance.

Composing 40% Internal and External Assessment – One composition exploring Areas of study and one composition link to Popular music.

Listening and Appraising 20%- External Assessment – Listening exam based on the five Areas of study.

A-LEVEL MUSIC BOARD:  WJEC 

AS Performing 15% External Assessment

Composing 15% Internal Assessment

Appraising 20% External Assessment – Set Works and Aural Perception

A2 Performing 20% External Assessment

Composing 15% Internal Assessment

Appraising 15 % external Assessment – Part 1 20th/ 21st Century music. Part 2 analyses of set works.
