Overview

We hope that through this section of our website that you are able to understand what opportunities are available to you and also what different topics and areas you will be studying throughout your time at The Deepings School.

STUDENT COUNCIL

This enables pupils to get involved in some of the decisions made at the school, allowing you to put forward your thoughts and impressions and those of your tutor group and house.  The council meets on a weekly basis and not only considers new ideas but also has presentations from staff within the school and external speakers.

College Captains, Sports Captains and other leadership responsibilities within the college system

When in the summer term of year 10 you will have the opportunity to apply for one of the leadership posts within you college.  This provides great experience and the opportunity to develop many skills that employers will be looking for in the future. 

College Captains are offered positions based on an application and interview process and take a prominent role in house and school life.

Sports Captains are responsible for enthusing the college for the many inter house sporting competitions that take place every year including sports day and the inter college swimming competition.  They will also assist in the smooth running of many of these competitions for the younger Key Stage 3 students.

Other roles can include Enterprise Captains, Charity Captains and peer mentoring.

CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES

There are many extra curricular clubs and activities that you can get involved in, these include a whole array of competitive and non-competitive sports clubs, theatre production groups which includes a technical support team, musical groups, geography clubs, art club plus many more.  These are all displayed through subjects, the bulletin, the Network and via Parentmail.

TRIPS AND VISITS

There are also an array of trips and visits that take place throughout the year, some locally and some further afield.  These can take place through enrichment days, as part of the curriculum or be recreational such as the annual ski trip.
