A career in sport?
20 talented year 9 pupils had the opportunity to experience and consider the skills and qualifications required for different sporting careers. The day started with a talk from POSH about the different careers available that pupils may not have thought of. They finished the session by assessing what skills and qualities they currently have and what they need to develop.
This was followed by a session with Jonathan Manning, the editor of Outdoor Fitness magazine. Some pupils found this session very inspiring and are now considering it as a career path. Mr Saunders took pupils through a day in the life of a teacher, some pupils were very surprised of what a teacher’s job consists of!
After break pupils had the opportunity to consider what they had eaten for break and what they were going to eat for lunch during their very interesting and thought provoking session with nutritionist David Cross.
Carol Holland’s Physiotherapy talk was very informative for the pupils who are considering it as a career. Pupils had the opportunity in this session to do a patient assessment and strap an injury.
The final session of the day saw personal trainer and ex pupil Robbie Tyler, put the pupils through their paces! Despite finding the physical session very hard work pupils were very keen to investigate setting up their own business as a trainer.
All pupils were fantastic throughout the day, they were a credit to themselves and the school. On behalf of the pupils I would like to thank all the providers who volunteered their time as without them the whole day would not have been possible.
