A very successful open evening for The Deepings SchoolBack to News
On Thursday 28th September The Deepings School held its annual Open Evening, primarily for year 5 and year 6 students, although everyone was welcome!
With over 800 visitors, the evening was buzzing with exciting activities in every subject area, sporting and musical performances, together with information about the gifted and able programme.
Presentations took place throughout the evening where Headteacher Mr Lord provided visitors with an overview of the school’s ethos and expectations. Three students representing each key stage of the school answered questions about what it’s like to be a student at The Deepings School.
As part of his speech Mr Lord said: “Alongside academic achievements, our aim is to help develop well rounded, confident students who can make a positive contribution to society. We have high expectations of them, but we provide high levels of support too and are recognised for our excellent pastoral care.”
Parents were impressed by the range of activities and the friendly atmosphere of the school and one young visitor, Grace from Deeping said “I really liked seeing science and would like to come here. The food was lovely!”
Parents’ comments included: “Well-structured and lovely to hear the students and their experiences. Good to have parent forums.” “We were very impressed by how friendly and knowledgeable your pupils were”
“Fabulous, well organised evening. The speed was excellent, all pupils were so helpful and the staff. Have made a very nervous young boy excited so thank you”
Mrs Taylor who co-ordinated the evening commented: “We wanted to give visitors a picture of our school and highlight some of the amazing opportunities there are for all students who join us. We are also very grateful to our exceptional pupils for giving up their time to help in subject areas, provide musical entertainment and guide parents and children around the school.”
