Y13 Travel and Tourism group visit The Ritz and Shangri-La HotelsBack to News
On Tuesday 7th February, the Year 13 Travel & Tourism students were fortunate enough to be given the opportunity of a behind the scenes look at two of the most prestigious hotels in London, The Ritz and The Shangri-La.
At The Ritz, we were given a tour of the ‘front of house’ area, the Michelin starred restaurant and the kitchens, where students were shown live langoustines and lobsters, and a small tin of Beluga Caviar which sells for £1450! We finished our time at The Ritz with a look around their bespoke jewellery store, where the highlight was a yellow diamond on sale for £525,000.
In the afternoon, we visited the Shangri-La Hotel, which is located between floors 35 and 52 of the Shard. In contrast to the Ritz, the Shangri-La was very modern, and featured breath-taking views of London. Students were shown the conference facilities, the pool and a typical en-suite bedroom.
The students were able to observe first-hand the power of customer service management for clients both internal and external in two of the most impressive hotels in London.
