Annual award ceremony and presentation evening for year 11 and year 13 students
On Thursday The Deepings School welcomed over 600 guests to their annual presentation evening at the superb Kingsgate Conference Centre in Peterborough, where the classes of 2015/16 were presented with certificates to highlight their achievements.
Many students were also awarded additional prizes to represent the whole range of subject areas, sporting achievements and work within the community.
Making the award presentations this year was special guest ex-marine Cassidy Little, recent winner of The People’s Strictly. Cassidy gave an inspirational and moving address recounting his incredible experiences as a dancer, actor, Royal Marine and TV presenter. His message was to aim to have pride and aggression, be resilient and determined, and to try to remain cheerful in the face of adversity.
Guests were entertained during the evening by year 8 student Evie Alexander who gave a beautiful solo performance of the song On My Own from Les Miserables, in addition to lively student band W45 who performed their own composition Someone Tell Me.
Duke of Edinburgh's Awards were also highlighted with school D of E leader Paul Shepherd providing an excellent overview of the scheme and thanking staff and volunteers for helping so many students through their bronze, silver and gold awards.
The proceedings were expertly overseen by Governor, Sharon Green and a vote of thanks and presentation to Cassidy was made by Head Boy and Head Girl Ben Jacklin and Heather Buttery.
All guests were invited to join staff and our community partners for refreshments after the formalities and photographs had taken place.
We would like to thank everyone who attended the event and helped make the evening such a success.
